The Genocide against Tutsi was committed during 100 days. That’s why during a Commemoration period of 100 days various institutions pay tribute to their employees who were murdered during the Genocide perpetrated against the Tutsi. SORAS is one of those companies which lost some of their employees during the Genocide against Tutsi in 1994 and it is committed to pay tribute to them every year during the commemoration of Genocide against Tutsi.
SORAS lost its Tutsi staff who were murdered during the genocide against Tutsi. The commemoration event brought together SORAS companies’ staff particularly those working with SORAS Assurance Générales Ltd and SORAS vie Ltd. On government side this year the event has been attended by the official from the National Commission against the Genocide CNLG Madam HITIMANA Justine.
The 23rd commemoration event in SORAS took place on June 8, 2017 and has been conducted into two series. The first event started at SORAS Headquarters where families, friends of the victims and SORAS Group officials and staff paid respect to the former SORAS staff murdered during the Genocide against Tutsi by laying wreaths on tombstone containing their names.
In his remarks on this occasion the CEO of SORAS AG Ltd Mr Facre G.BIRASA stated that Genocide Ideology will never have place in SORAS
“I can assure you that SORAS will always fight tirelessly against genocide ideology” Fiacre Said
“Let us always fight against evil deeds to remain with upright manners” he added
Then after, everyone present took part in a walk to remember to the Kigali Genocide Memorial which is the final resting place for more than 250,000 victims of the Genocide against the Tutsi in Rwanda. It honors the memory of the more than one million Rwandans killed in 1994 Genocide against Tutsi.
After visiting and laying wreaths on Genocide Memorial Site, talk session has been conducted by reverend Pastor Antoine Rutayisire who asked SORAS staff to be careful with genocide Ideology.
“We should not look like a flask containing dirty water. When it is deposited somewhere the dirt dissipates and is placed under water at the base of the flask. When you shake it the same dirt goes up and degrades the cleanliness of the water. We must get rid of this dirtiness that symbolizes the ideology of the Genocide that can handicap our everyday life”.Rutayisire Said.
The CEO of SORAS Vie Ltd Mr. Jean Chrysostom HODARI during his remarks, he reiterated the importance of visiting Genocide Memorial Site as an institution entity.
“It is very significant to come here because we realize the extent of the Genocide against Tutsi” HODARI said.
The guest of Honor in this event was the official from the National Commission against the Genocide CNLG Madam HITIMANA Justine.
In her speech she thanked SORAS for having made such activity of remembering its former staff victims of genocide against Tutsi. She said that Rwanda came from far but now changes are obvious. She has reminded people of Rwanda that they have to build on their progress so that they can move ahead with sustainable development.
